5/24/97- Moving on up!
NewsCentral and its sister site, World Wide Webchat, will be relocating to a new home on June 15. We will let you know more soon but what we can say at this time is that with this new server, there will be more updates, more content, and even better navigation. Please check back here soon!
5/7/97 - We lost it!
While working on NewsCentral v2.1 we had a few file problems, particularly the loss off all our updated pages. We were able to pull up old backups, but lost all our updates. We will be updating the entire site to v2.1 very shortly. Sorry for the delay but we think it will be worth it. Remember to stop by World Wide Webchat and see our index of webchats!
4/12/97 - NewsCentral v2.1 Sneak Preview
For the last two weeks we have been talking about NewsCentral v2.1. The front page as well as this page is now version 2.1, although not all the features are currently available. This site-wide update will slowly take effect over the next four weeks, with new functionality there are always kinks to work out. We always are looking for new newspapers to add and ways to make your surfing experience better. Please feel free to drop us a line. There will not be much news until v2.1 is completed, but please check back soon for a progress report.
4/9/97 - We're back!
NewsCentral took a much-needed vacation and completely closed its doors for nearly a week. Well we have come back refreshed and ready to throw some bytes around. Within the next few days you will see the first new feature of NewsCentral v2.1 appear, better navigation. While on vacation we decided that there should be an easy-to-use toolbar with all the categories and some added user features. We will then implement the exact same toolbar on ALL the pages in NewsCentral by the end of next week. User feedback is an important tool in the development of this web site and we need yours to make it better! Tomorrow there will be another post, please check back as we will bring new features on-line rapidly and will always be posted here first.
4/2/97 - April Fools not so Funny
We had a major server problem which caused this site to be inaccessible from about 10:00pm PST on 4/1/97 until 8:30am PST on 4/2/97. We apologize for this but can do only so much to prevent it from happening again. We thank you for your understanding.
3/30/97- NewsCentral v2.1 Coming Soon!
Version 2.1 of our site will be appearing by the end of May. 2.1 will make many changes behind the scenes and a few that you will notice too! Look for more consistency throughout the site and better integration/navigation of all the site components. You should start seeing some subtle changes by the middle of April, first of which should be the better navigation and the addition of an Australia category. Comments are always welcome.
3/29/97- Opening of Our Sister Site
From the people that brought you NewsCentral comes the latest must-have resource on the Web. World Wide Webchat is now online with more than 650 webchat listings. Our job is to provide the most comprehensive resource on the Web for every site we produce. Even though it just opened, World Wide Webchat is already the largest webchat resource on the Web!
3/27/97- Advertising Now Available
Advertising is now available on NewsCentral with prices starting at only $1 per month! NewsCentral is becoming a well known resource on the Internet and has more visitors every day! Traffic to ths site has increased over 20% in the last month alone! For more information click here.
3/22/97- Network Problems and Coming Attractions
Our provider and a national switching station had some network problems on Thursday and Friday including a power loss to our server. This may account for this site being unreachable for awhile. We apologize for this and we hope that it will not happen again. By April Fool's Day we will be launching one of our new sister sites, called World Wide Webchat. This sister site will be similar to NewsCentral in that it will also provide the best resource of its kind on the Web and have easy navigation. Check back here later in the week to be the first to see a preview of this great new site. We will also be debuting another site by the end of April but that is as much information as we are going to release for now.
3/15/97- Great Things are Coming!
In the next month we will be debuting TWO new sister sites. Both of these sites will be uniquely different than anything else remotely like it on the Internet. At this time we will not "spill the beans," but we can say that it is reference in nature. Check back here at the end of the month for another update.
3/13/97- Terrorism, E-Mail Style
We had a very disgruntled web user mail bomb the Webmaster's mailbox last night. He was alleging that NewsCentral copied his site, which is completely and utterly false. In no way, shape, or form, have we EVER used ANYTHING from this man's site. I also contacted a fellow webmaster of another newspaper site and he mentioned that he had a problem with this same person about a month ago. I traced him and have informed his provider. They replied on Friday saying that appropriate action was taken but I will do a follow-up next week just to make sure. Although this user did not cause any harm to the site, mail was goofed up for about 1 hour. If you had sent anything to the Webmaster on Wednesday night, please resend it. We apologize for this and will make every effort not to let this happen again.
3/09/97- New College Newspaper Section
A brand new addition to our site is the College Newspaper Section! In this new area we have listed over 330+ college newspapers for your reading pleasure. That brings this site's newspaper listings to over 2700!
3/08/97- Major Update
In our goal to provide you with the best and most links to newspapers on the web, we are adding more than 450+ new newspapers to our directory. This update should be completed by later today. We now have over 2390 newspaper links!
3/06/97- WinMag HotSpot!
I have just received a letter from the VP of CMP Media saying that on Wednesday, March 12, this site will be featured as a WinMag Hotspot. I just want to say thank you to all of the people who have used this site and have contributed to it.

2/22/97- NewsCentral v2.0
NewsCentral has been dramatically redesigned for faster loading and easy access. Many new newspapers have been added in this update also, more than 300! NewsCentral now has over 1900 newspaper listings!
