Struck By Cupid's Arrow - Love Poems By A Teenager

When I Met You

Since I met you I have learned so much,
I've been to places I never thought I would see.
You've shown me so many things,
Both of the world and of me.
I never knew happiness could be caught and put in a pocket,
Following you throughout the day.
I never knew my compass was broken,
Until you showed me the true way.

I never knew I was alive,
Until you showed me how to live.
And for all that you have shown me,
Many thanks to you I give.
Your warm, kind and loving heart,
Has indeed warmed up mine.
Whatever happens from here on out,
I will remember you for all time.

You are a beautiful flower,
Nectars so sweet.
How could I have imagined,
You and I would meet.
When I first gazed into those eyes,
Someway... somehow... I knew.
You wanted to talk to me,
And I... to you.

We said our greetings and I continued on,
But then for some reason I turned around.
And when our eyes met once again,
A smile broke from your frown.
I asked you to dinner,
You seemed glad to accept.
Through the meal and conversation,
The stares into each other's eyes we kept.

Time passed by so quick,
Soon you had to leave.
It had been such a wonderful night,
More perfect than I could believe.
You wrote your number on a napkin,
Which I gently folded and placed in my pocket.
And even today I have kept it safe,
More sacred to me than any locket.

The drive home was so foggy,
I don't remember a thing.
But when I woke in the morning,
I shot to the phone to give you a ring.
I waited for you to say hello.
I wondered how the night before,
I could have ever let you go.

When I heard your voice,
You answered with no warning.
A great relief swept through my body,
And then I said "good morning."
You told me how you hoped I'd call,
The story of your night's dreams began.
Then you asked to meet me,
To come as soon as I can.

I walked to your door,
I gave it a weak knock.
My knees trembling,
My hands as sweaty as a sock.
Seconds seemed like hours,
Waiting for you to come.
I found myself asking,
"What can she see in this bum?"

Finally the door opened,
You stepped into the light.
At that moment I knew,
Coming here was right.
Our hands came together,
Our lips came quicker still.
Electricity ran through our bodies,
The sensation was quite a thrill.

The shock finally subsided,
We came to our senses.
Suddenly we realized what we had done,
We had let down our defenses.
What happened the rest of the day,
I really have no clue.
Whatever happened didn't matter,
As long as I was with you.

I make it home,
I go to bed.
Dreams about you,
Floated through my head.
Each day this was repeated,
Time after time,
I almost forgot the reason,
I began to write this rhyme.

Since I met you I have learned so much,
I've been to places I never thought I would see.
You've shown me so many things,
Both of the world and of me.
I never knew happiness could be caught and put in a pocket,
Following you throughout the day.
I never knew my compass was broken,
Until you showed me the true way.

I never knew I was alive,
Until you showed me how to live.
And for all that you have shown me,
Many thanks to you I give.
Your warm, kind and loving heart,
Has indeed warmed up mine.
Whatever happens from here on out,
I will remember you for all time.
